The situations into which the product of mechanical reproduction can be brought may not touch the actual work of art, yet the quality of its presence is always depreciated. This holds not only for the art work but also, for instance, for a landscape which passes in review before the spectator in a movie. In the case of the art object, a most sensitive nucleus namely, its authenticity is interfered with whereas no natural object is vulnerable on that score. The authenticity of a thing is the essence of all that is transmissible from its beginning, ranging from its substantive duration to its testimony to the history which it has experienced. Since the historical testimony rests on the authenticity, the former, too, is jeopardized by reproduction when substantive duration ceases to matter. And what is really jeopardized when the historical testimony is affected is the authority of the object.

Your acts of reproduction may be mechanical, but some of us prefer a more artistic, emotional approach.

First thought? You couldn't have put the garage closer to the house?

That picture needs to be updated to modern standards: "Justification for higher education, the ability to speak 26 languages, development of a cure for Ebola and all forms of cancer, maintaining a 16.0 GPA, and having a massive schlong."

Love this! I naturally had this poster (with the newish cars in the garages of course) plastered next to my desk the entire time in university. The 80's coke dealer cars make me think I should have moved to Miami and skipped Uni all together.

This is the only car in that garage I'd really care to own...

True story I was dating the daughter of a very famous pro drag racer from the early 70s. National record holder for 3 years. Super cool guy. And smoking hot daughter. Anyway, he had this exact picture in his rec room. I was doing desktop publishing at the time. He asked me to make him a set of vanity plates for each of the cars that were skewed properly in the perspective of the picture. I used the size of the license plate recess on the Vette to come up with the scale. He had one parked in the garage. But, now that I see this pic again some 25 years later, I owned that color and era Mercedes (86 S-class) up until a year ago.

If I had that kind of money, I would build a garage deep enough to put the car all the way in.

This poster always bugged me. Not only because the 3er doesn't really belong, as much as I like BMWs, but also because I would spend at least some of my money on garage doors. And servant who knew how to pull the cars all the way in! Seriously, where is that guy? JEEVES!

Lol, Kinja screwed up, I actually meant the Ferrari. Although the big wallet for repairs will still be necessary...
